Of course we can't all go on demanding more and more pay rises as it just exacerbates the problem but redressing some of the imbalances needs to happen for sure.

I worry about Latvians as they do not know how to protest sometimes. The farmers did a good job one year, they just congregated on the outskirts of Riga and drove slowly into the city - snarled up things beautifully and gained them some concessions. Unfortunately most people choose to leave the country than fight those who take advantage of their power.Joannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08013060781688432165noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3667528135627300426.post-20856400169976324032011-02-15T13:28:06.796+02:002011-02-15T13:28:06.796+02:00I agree with you totally on the injustice of the c...I agree with you totally on the injustice of the cuts and am all for peaceful protest. The money doesn't last as long here either, petrol more expensive, food more exppensive, heating more expensive. No wage rises, it's just getting worse. The TUC here have been talking about protest movements, bring it on I say...Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02735772003412266355noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3667528135627300426.post-88898294586941319952011-02-15T07:50:19.887+02:002011-02-15T07:50:19.887+02:00It wouldn't feel so bad if you thought the ban...It wouldn't feel so bad if you thought the banks cared but they don't. They just go on slapping more and more charges onto those struggling to pay because of the crisis.

I love the analogy of sweeping away the old. Indeed it is time for fresh starts.Joannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08013060781688432165noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3667528135627300426.post-36332369365030665752011-02-14T23:28:22.415+02:002011-02-14T23:28:22.415+02:00I totally agree with you about the banks. Well we DON'T deserve what we are going through because of their dealings. Ooohhh!!! makes my blood boil! We bail them out and now they go back and do exactly the same thing all over again.

I was also moved by the clean up of the square in Cairo after the demonstrations. To me it seemed like a prophetic act and one woman actually said that she was sweeping away the old so they could have a fresh, clean start. I'm sure things in Egypt won't be the same again.Mavishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06891683963512705794noreply@blogger.com
